Art in Public Places for December
The Walton County Tourist Development Council and Friends of Coastal Branch Library announce the Art in Public Places exhibit for December will feature local artists Terry Long and Jackie Lynch.
Terry Long works with oils, acrylics and pastels. Long received the Johnny Main Award at Arts Quest Fine Arts Festival in 2008 and the M cElroy Award at the Destin Festival of the Arts in 2005. The Birmingham Botanical Garden Library showcased a print titled “Royal Beauty” this past summer. Her work has been shown at Chautauqua Assembly, the Destin Festival of the Arts, and ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival. She is a member of the Cultural Arts Association, Women’s Art Network, Walton County Art League, Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation and the Pastel Society of North Florida.
“Even though I started late in life, I am so happy that art is now a big part of my life,” Long said.
Jackie Lynch is a self-taught artist who works in the realist tradition and was inspired by family and friends. After experimenting with watercolors, oils and pastels, she focused on acrylic paints for the durability, versatility and rapid trying time. In 2006, Lynch won first place at the Destin Festival of the Arts in the collaborative tent. Collectors of her work reside in eleven states and internationally in Brussels, Belgium. Lynch is an active member of the Cultural Arts Association, the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation as well as the Women's Art Network.
