Annual Barktoberfest returns to WindMark Beach

WindMark Beach will provide the venue for the second annual Barktoberfest from 1 to 5 p.m. (EST) Nov. 14 on the eastern green of the 2007 Southern Accents Idea House, adjacent to WindMark Beach’s three-and-a-half mile boardwalk along St. Joseph’s Bay.

The event will feature authentic turkey and pork bratwurst, drinks, entertainment and giveaways, all to benefit the Port St. Joe Humane Society and the Gulf County CDC’s People Helping People program.

Performing live from the porch of the Southern Accents Idea House will be Nashville singer/songwriter couple Dana and Charlie Black and local musician Barry Henson.

WindMark Beach homeowner Bill Bernardo is spearheading the fundraiser again this year.

“We’re excited to have Jennie-O Turkey Store, based in Willmar, Minn., (a subsidiary of Hormel Foods) donating the bratwurst again. This is their second year serving as our primary sponsor.” says Bernardo. “It will be made fresh and shipped down via FedEx, then grilled right here on–site to ensure maximum freshness and flavor. It doesn't get any better or more authentic than that!”

Chef Jim Shirley and his staff at Great Southern School of Fish will be making and donating Sheboygan hard rolls, an authentic Bavarian Style square roll with a crispy crust and a soft fluffy middle. Other area sponsors include The Port Fine Wine & Spirits, the Gulf County Chamber of Commerce, Vision Bank and Hannon Insurance.

Tickets are on sale at The WindMark Beach Sales Office, Fit as a Fiddle, Hannon Insurance, and from event organizers and members of the Humane Society. Tickets will also be available the day of the event.

For more information, call 850-819-3827. Event attendees are encouraged to bring their dogs, lawn chairs or blankets. The Southern Accents home will be open for tours, hosted by St. Joe Community Sales.
