Shades of yesteryears!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read your article dated Jan. 28-31, 2012, "Protecting the Point"!  Leave it to the Boy Scouts to show the oldsters the correct way to preserve the beaches. Installing the sand fences and the planting of sea oats is the correct way and cheapest way to rebuild our beaches. The only item missing is the used Christmas trees to restart the dunes.

Thank you, Boy Scouts Troop No. 504, Destin Engineer Joe Bodi and Alison McDowell of the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance.  Perhaps Mayor Sam Seevers could invite several more groups to put up fences, plant more sea oats and place used Christmas trees for building dunes along our counties' Gulf Coast.

Let’s make this an annual event!  Good job, Boy Scouts!
