Sinfonia Gulf Coast's fourth season opens

The Sinfonia Gulf Coast presents “Let the Music Surround You” at 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at Grace Lutheran Church in Destin to open its fourth season. Recent Metropolitan Opera Competition winner Katherine Jolly opens the performance with Samuel Barber’s haunting “Knoxville: Summer of 1915.” According to the New York Times, “Katherine Jolly used her agile, bright lyric soprano to superb effect ...”

Principal flute Robin Horne, principal oboe Will Wise and visinting principal trumpet Brian Buerkle take center stage to perform the regional premiere of Barber’s energetic “Capricorn Concerto.” The concert concludes with Igor Stravinsky’s popular “Suite from Pulcinella,” based on the music from the ballet with the same name.

“We are so fortunate to be able to present stellar guest artists with Sinfonia and even more so that our own orchestra members are so gifted and capable of sharing that spotlight,” stated Music Director Demetrius Fuller.

Tickets are $37.50 for preferred floor seating and $25 for balcony seating and can be purchased and printed online at www.SinfoniaGulfCoast.org or call the box office at 850-269-7129. Season tickets are on sale now.
