Napa Valley's JARVIS Winery to participate in Florida's Destin Charity Wine event
Continuing a long tradition of philanthropy in the Jarvis family and in the wine business, JARVIS Winery has agreed to participate in, and donate to, the Destin Charity Wine Auction “Wine & Dine in Paradise” set for April 23–25 in Destin. JARVIS Winemaker Ted Henry will represent the winery as a participating celebrity vintner.
In addition to participation at the event, JARVIS is donating to the Destin Charity Wine Auction a once-in-a-lifetime auction lot valued at $20,000 called “The JARVIS Associate Vintner Experience.” The winning bidder, likely a serious wine aficionado, will have the rare opportunity to be involved in the creation of their very own personalized-for-their-palate JARVIS wine.
Destin is home to a world-class resort community where the residents are passionate about great wine, great food and giving back to the community. In late 2005 the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, whose sole purpose is to raise money for children in need through wine events, was established.
“JARVIS Winery is happy to participate with the Foundation which has already raised millions of dollars, impacted the lives of countless needy children and become one of the fastest-growing and most talked about wine charity foundations in the nation,” said William Jarvis, president of JARVIS.
William and Leticia Jarvis acquired their Napa Valley home in the mid 1980s. With the assistance of world-renown winemaker Dimitri Tchelistcheff, who continues as a consulting winemaker exclusively for JARVIS, they spent a decade carefully developing the estate vineyards and followed by building the cave winery which opened in 1995.
Unlike other wineries, JARVIS is totally underground in a 45,000 square foot cave, an eco-friendly facility that houses fully operational wine production and barrel chai as well as the winery offices and visitor areas. The focus on quality commenced in the vineyards when they cherry-picked just six vineyards totaling 37 acres from the total 1,320 acre JARVIS Estate.
Limited-production, luxury wines that total fewer than 9,000 cases annually are the result of this commitment to quality.
JARVIS also recently launched their first Associate Vintners Program, where an opportunity for an individual seriously interested in wine can participate in the creation, blending and labeling of their very own JARVIS Napa Valley wine.
