Greenways, trails and parks provide recreational access for all

BLACKWATER STATE PARK - October is both Florida Greenways and Trails Month and National Disability Awareness Month. To celebrate, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Office of Greenways & Trails and the Division of Recreation and Parks are hosting statewide events accessible to people of all abilities.

DEP's state parks are always looking for improvements to help all visitors feel welcome. While many of the parks provide varying degrees of accessibility, the Florida Park Service strives to accommodate and include everyone. By implementing measures such as Accessibility Coordinators for each park, performing trail and facility assessments and improvements, state parks consistently work to meet the needs of the 20.7 million visitors who were welcomed last fiscal year.
