Cafe Liquid cozy spot for coffee, meal

NICEVILLE — As you open the door to Café Liquid, you are immediately met with softly playing background music, the hiss of steam from the espresso machine and a welcoming hello.

The food

Café Liquid opens at 5:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and at 7 a.m. on Saturday for breakfast.

They offer sandwiches, bagels and pastries.

The breakfast sandwiches include your choice of meat, cheese and egg on wheat berry or white bread, croissant, bagel or English muffin.

The meat choices include sausage, bacon, Black Forest ham, smoked or Salsalito turkey (roast turkey with a spicy rub).

Cheeses include American, cheddar, Provolone or Swiss. Café Liquid serves Boar’s Head meat and cheeses.

You may add green pepper, cucumber, tomato, onion, lettuce or extra meat and cheese for an additional 25 cents.

Bagels include plain, honey oat or everything and are served with regular cream cheese.

Pastries, which vary by type from day to day, include cinnamon rolls, muffins, scones, power bars, biscotti, chocolate chip cookies and Rice Krispie treats.

The day of our visit, they were offering blueberry, white chocolate raspberry and cinnamon scones.

Both were delicious and were generously sized to share.

Café Liquid offers sandwiches, soup and salad at lunchtime.

All sandwiches include mayo, lettuce and tomato and come on wheat berry or white bread, croissant or bagel.

Your meat and cheese choices include Black Forest Ham, smoked or Salsalito turkey, American, cheddar, Provolone or Swiss.

Their vegetarian sandwich includes mayonnaise, tomato, black olives, cucumbers, pickles, green peppers, onions, cheese and lettuce.

My guest chose the BLT on wheat berry which was a nice lunch combined with a bowl of soup.

Specialty sandwiches include smoked tuna salad or homemade chicken salad, turkey bacon ranch or turkey bacon Caesar, or turkey bagel.

I chose the chicken salad sandwich on wheat berry and found it a delicious pairing with a cup of the soup of the day, which was red pepper Gouda.

The soup comes either by the cup or bowl and is served with crackers.

Salads include a spring, chef, tuna or chicken, turkey bacon ranch or turkey bacon Caesar salads.

Combos are available.

The children’s menu includes macaroni and cheese, a PBJ or one-half meat and cheese sandwich along with a choice of fruit cup or chips and drink.

Café Liquid has an extensive offering of coffees and flavorings.

I tried the sugar-free mocha ice cappuccino with whipped cream, of course.

The atmosphere

Café Liquid is a cozy place, seating for about 30. It is a place that makes you want to linger and enjoy the day — or if you don’t have time, drive-through service is available.

The service

Our waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu.

If you have only a few minutes for a quick coffee and pastry or want to linger longer, give Café Liquid a try. I know you will enjoy it.
