Secrets of the Bride: Tips for the big day

Jenny Ricketts was married in May 2012 in Destin, Fla. to Dusty Ricketts.

Here are her tips from one former bride to all future brides:

Delegate

It was hard to “let go”, but I made sure that on my wedding day all I had to do was get ready and show up.

Guess what?!

It turned out perfectly. On my wedding day, I was relaxed and thought only of my groom waiting for me. I liked being surprised when we walked into the reception. I put my trust in the people that do this for a living.

Spend smart

We did not spend a lot on our cake or flowers. Both were purchased at local grocery stores. My cake tasted amazing and was gorgeous. And my flowers were gorgeous. Grocery store florists get their flowers from the same places that your local florist does.

Plan photos

I wish that I had thought ahead about photos that I would have liked to have.

My photographer was awesome and he took the pictures that I had asked for and then some, but I didn’t think to ask for certain things. I should have thought about it a little more...

Take time to think about it and have a good list for your photographer.

Don’t sweat the small stuff

Things are going to happen and if you realize that before they do you will be able to handle them better and you will see that it really isn’t a big deal.
