The Date, the Destination, and the Dress

DESTIN – Not knowing all of the details is not crucial, but those who are planning a beach wedding in the summer should already have their wedding date reserved.

The beach is a unique place to get married and many choose it because of the emerald green water and sugar white sand. Every year, hundreds of couples come to the area to make it the memorable place for the celebration of their love.

“The months from May to July are the most popular time of the year to have a beach wedding,” said Nicki Cox, a wedding planner at Island Sands Beach Weddings. “We still have some availability for June, but May is almost completely full.”

Besides the beach, there are other options in the area that many couples choose for their perfect wedding day.

“The beach is always the most popular place, but we arrange a lot of weddings at state gardens as well as at the Bay House (an area wedding venue),” Cox said. “Everything depends on what style of ceremony our clients wish for.”

Once the date and the place are set, it is time for the couple to decide on everything else. Many couples prefer to use the help of a professional to relieve a lot of the stress that is involved when planning a wedding.

“If there is a date to work on with everything else can be modified,” Cox said. “We do not have limits and always ask the couple what exactly they want.”

From the flowers, to the music and cake, everything can be arranged and rearranged as the wedding day is being prepared.

Choosing a wedding dress, though, is among the things that brides have to coordinate on their own.

“The new styles for the next season come every four months and to get the perfect wedding gowns, I recommend the brides to order their dresses six months in advance,” said Cynthia Holobauex, a bridal consultant at The Red Raspberry Boutique who has more than 30 years of experience. “If they are planning on a designer’s dress, it will take them one year.”

Among the most fashionable wedding gowns this year is the mermaid dress. The see-through sleeves and the laces are also stylish now.

“Adjusting a wedding dress could be a challenge,” Holobauex said. “If that is needed, it is easier to make the dress smaller than bigger.”

As many brides experience weight changes when preparing for their special day, Holobauex advises the ladies to take their measurements at least 18 months before the wedding and to keep a record of them every month.

“Once the date, the destination and the dress are chosen, the beach wedding is on the right track.” Cox said.
