Fine art at Avantgarde

Visual and aural arts combine as famed artist Aaaron Whitehouse comes to salon for a good cause

A fine art charity event featuring renowned Atlanta-based artist Aaron Whitehouse will be held at Avantgarde salon located at 36236 Emerald Coast Hwy. in Destin Friday, July 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. A portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated to the Anchorage Children’s Home.

Hors d’ oeuvres will be provided by Tuscany Italian Bistro. Pinnacle Whipped Vodka will be the drink of choice, sponsored by Coyote Ugly Saloon.

“The night will be a great mix of people coming together for a great cause, all the while viewing the biggest up-and-coming artist with his one of a kind pieces,” Olsen said. “There will be great music, Italian food and tasty libations.”

Aaron Whitehouse is a rising star in the art world. With collectors such as Elton John, who owns five pieces, and Ed Roland of Collective Soul on his client list, his work is in greater demand than ever.

He describes his work perfectly: “I use all mediums in my art, and like most ventures involving that which is transcendent, there are no rules or agenda or formal training — just raw unbridled creativity and understanding that all art forms communicate on a level well beyond simply what we see and hear…”

In addition to his phenomenal artistic talent, he is a formidable musician as well. His new band “the Romans” were recently signed with a major music label. Their music has been described as modern new wave with deep introspective lyrics. To learn more about the band, visit www.theromansmusic.com

Whitehouse was born in 1975 in Terre Haute, Ind. Aaron grew up in the Atlanta Metro area and after graduating from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Arts in film and video, he enrolled for one year at Southern Seminary in Columbia, S.C., where he realized creativity was his gift and vowed to follow wherever it led in life. He apprenticed under renowned Atlanta artist Joseph Guay. While there he decided to experiment with a variety of different mediums finding his niche in resin-based works.

The event will benefit the Anchorage Children’s Home in Panama City. Anchorage is a non-profit Christian organization, whose mission is to serve, protect and strengthen children and families in the community. They provide family counseling as well as residential services for runaway, homeless or abused youths. Visit www.anchoragechildrenshome.org for more detailed information.

For more information on the event, contact Joanna Olsen at joannacoyote@yahoo.com. For more information on the salon, see www.avantgardeaveda.com.

“We choose Avantgarde because of its spacious wall space, great location and the knowledge that owners Joseph Rogers and Deke Lee would be the best people to help make this event a huge success.”
