LYNN HAVEN — A bank robbery suspect using a bicycle as a getaway vehicle didn’t get far Wednesday before he was arrested.

According to Lynn Haven Police, a robber entered SunTrust Bank on Florida Avenue at approximately 1 p.m.  and gave a note to a teller demanding money. Police Chief David Messer said the suspect implied that he had a weapon, but did not display one. After getting an undisclosed amount of money, he left on a bicycle.

A woman who witnessed the robbery followed the suspect for about a half-mile while on a cellphone with the Lynn Haven Police Department reporting his whereabouts until the suspect was arrested at the E-Z Lane Convenience Store at the intersection of Ohio and Fifth Street.

Officers recovered the note given to the teller, and the money, during the arrest. No weapon was found.

Charged with bank robbery is Dino Delaurentis, 49, from Pennsylvania.

Chief Messer credited the witness with her willingness to get involved, which resulted in the quick apprehension of the suspect.
