Man claims he didn't know sex with a minor was illegal

CALLAWAY - A man charged Wednesday with unlawful sexual activity with a minor told authorities he had no idea that sort of thing was illegal.

His arrest was the result of a recent investigation by the Bay County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Department of Children and Families (DCF), according to a news releas. DCF contacted BCSO investigators after receiving a complaint on Jamey Lee Hudson, 36, of Dogwood Way in Callaway.

Hudson allegedly had a sexual relationship with a juvenile, the release said. The victim told authorities that she and Hudson had been involved sexually for about one year. During his interview, Hudson told investigators he was not aware that a person under the age of 18 could not legally give consent.

Hudson was arrested and taken to the Bay County Jail.
