Fish silverlining.jpg Cleaning up: Deckhand Joe Quaranto on the Silver Lining had his hands full at the cleaning tables Wednesday. The group of anglers aboard pulled in red grouper, scamp, triggerfish, mingo and white snapper.

All's clear and fishing is good

There is a silver lining to this oil spill and it is captained by Ed Shields.

Capt. Ed Shields backed in on the charter boat Silver Lining Wednesday afternoon with a great catch.

They had red grouper, scamp, a half dozen triggerfish and several mingo and white snapper.

“It was beautiful out,” Capt. Shields said. “The water was clear. It was really pretty.” He said there was 50 to 60 feet of visibility on the surface.

“We were out about 22 miles and it was as clear as it could be,” Shields said.

Capt. Cliff Cox on the Sweet Jody backed in with several stringers filled with mingo, white snapper, a couple of grouper and triggerfish.

“Fish are biting and the water is warming up,” Capt. Cox said. “And nobody has seen any (oil) that I know of.

However, they did see a wahoo on the trip. And they did catch and couple of shark that they released.

The charter boat Gulf Breeze with Capt. Jason Hindeman pulled in with a big load of fish. They had a couple of red grouper on the racks, along with several mingo, white snapper and triggerfish.

“The fishing was great,” Hindeman said. “It was beautiful green water all the way.”
