A fun place to shop is Betsy & Sisters Gifts, which opened in February.
“We’ve had this dream for so long to own our own store,” said Betsy Austin, who had managed several retail businesses in the area.
Some shoppers may remember the small Christian store that she and her sister owned in 1998.
“We started it (the previous business) with a credit card, and we made a lot of mistakes,” Austin said. Learning from that experience has helped Betsy, Jeannie Findley and Melanie Lewis bring their new gift shop to the area.
Betsy & Sisters Gifts gives shoppers a selection of collectible figurines, toys, totes, décor, military and university gift ideas, Christian-based selections and even chocolates.
“We want to have things that bring customers fun,” Austin added. That fun begins with the warm greetings from the owners and the sense that everyone who enters Betsy & Sisters Gifts will feel welcome.
“We’re really happy to be (running the shop) and hope to be what customers want us to be,” she said.
