Hair salon gives clients that 'vintage feeling'

Cute, edgy and retro with a modern twist almost describes Pin-Up Girls Hair Studio, but there’s more to the look than hair pins and spray.

Owners Maria Nieves and Jeannie Pope embrace the styles and find the inner pin-up girl in all their clients.

“It kind of has that vintage feeling,” Pope said of the shop, adding that she and Nieves enjoy styling their hair to reflect the beauties of days gone by. “We’re just our own walking advertisements.”

Both stylists had worked elsewhere in the area, but they saw an opportunity to branch out as business partners. They’ve slowly built Pin-Up Girls Hair Studio over the past year, and they’ve also gone on the road for marketing events and social gatherings.

“We actually do our hair from different eras,” Pope said, although they will bring in modern elements through colors and cuts.

Part of building the shop includes the offerings of eyelash extensions, facial treatments and waxing. Groups can be accommodated, especially for weddings, proms or formal events, and for girls’ night out opportunities.
